Consortium selected by ODA for Olympic media centre

The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) has selected Carillion and Igloo to deliver the International Broadcast Centre and Main Press Centre and its legacy development for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
A 1.3 million square feet media hub will be transformed into mixed-use office and business space following the Games, providing a legacy of more than 8,000 new jobs.
Planning permission and final designs are expected to be agreed later this year, with construction due to start next spring.
Sebastian Coe, chair of the London 2012 organising committee, said the impressive facilities will give the best possible foundations for the Games and leave high performance workspace for the east of London.
ODA chief executive David Higgins added: "We now have world class teams in place to deliver four of the 'big five' Olympic Park venues.
"Carillion Igloo will bring a combined construction and regeneration excellence to create the media hub to transmit the London 2012 Games across the world but also to transform the venue into a vibrant and sustainable employment space in legacy."
Earlier this month the ODA said that 75p in every £1 spent by it is being invested in the long-term regeneration of east London.
