New retail centre adds major client

ScS has signed up for retail space at a £35 million development in Cardiff.

The home furnishing store will join retailers including Asda, Costco and Marks & Spencer at Capital Shopping Park in Cardiff City's new Leckwith stadium, the Western Mail reports.

A spokesperson for Cardiff-based developer PMG has confirmed that ScS will be present at the 470,000 square foot site, despite financial uncertainty surrounding the retailer.

Sports retailer JJB is to be another tenant at the development, which has been driven by the Capital Retail Park Partnership, made up of PMG and Capital & Regional.

Funds for the project came from the sale of Ninian Park to Redrow Homes (£9 million), Cardiff City Football Club (£12 million) and a Football Trust Grant (£2 million).

Meanwhile, Drivers Jonas Sport has been chosen to lead the design of a new leisure complex in Derbyshire.

Sport England has also made a grant of £500,000 to the scheme, which will be built at a brownfield site between Matlock and Darley Dale, Property Mall reports.
